A Blue Dog Art Room

I love the art work of George Rodrigue. Especially his Blue Dog. I have taught this Blue Dog lesson every year. It is always a huge success with students.
This year I decided to make Blue Dog my theme.
Blue letters for my "I Can" standards
Purple dog looking over our art word wall.
Orange dog reminding students to clean their paint brushes.
Red dog showing students who the helpers are for the day.
Yellow dog reminding students to write their name, table, and code
If you're wondering why I have so many different color "Blue Dogs" then you should read this:
Here are some other sites around the room.

I love our "closets" but was tired of seeing the "stuff". I like the effect of the sheer fabric. Curtains $5 at Big Lots held up with simple $5 tension rods.
My buckets got pretty rusty. I love these baskets also from Big Lots. 2 for $1.20
3, 2, 1 whole class points rewards

  1. Looks great! That reminds me, I need to get over to Dollar Tree and get some new containers myself. Best of luck this fall.

  2. Love your Blue Dog theme! The curtains on the front of the supply shelves look great! I have the same type of shelves and used to do the same thing with curtains to cover the mess! A few years back the fire marshall said take them down because they were a fire hazard! Because, yeah, they were the most flammable thing in the art room ( sarcasm ) ! ( that and the curtains i had on the metal frame windows that were built into the cinder block wall, lol )

  3. I feel you Mrs. C,
I had to spray the curtains with this non flammable stuff they issue to the schools.

  4. These are so great!! I love how they give emphasis to your important 'notes'. Are you allowed to be in school during the summer? Not that I'm dying to go in, but it would be nice if I could!

  6. Kristin,
Yes, we're allowed to go in during the summer. The school system deep cleans and waxes our floors. Once that is finished, we can go in. We don't get paid for it obviously. But we only get one prep day and that's just not enough time.
